GDR Creative Intelligence publishes a quarterly Global Innovation Report in which it highlights innovative design and advertising work to a select number of corporate subscribers.
The editor wanted me to train her researchers so that they could write short, snappy case studies for the Report.
Having talked to the editor and the researchers, looked at their work and analysed the skills needed to write the Report, I then devised two half day, bespoke training sessions.
Using exercises that included research materials from the advertising and design sectors, I trained them first in thinking skills, then demonstrated that planning is necessary even for a short case study, gave them some basic rules for writing in Plain English and showed them how to edit their work. The follow-up session, some weeks later, reinforced the initial training and introduced some incremental ideas to hone their talents further.
